A small (250 square feet), neat, well-designed studio at the top of a steep flight of stairs. This is my Chelsea apartment, where everything is set up for the traveler in need of a comfortable home base.
This apartment is great for couples or singles who want to be where the action is--in a cozy, clean apartment overlooking a leafy street. Please note that there are steep steps and no elevator, so pack accordingly!
There's great light, for planning daytime adventures. Black-out curtains, for a good night's sleep. And a Queen-sized mattress and bed, freshly cleaned linens and towels, a flat-screen TV with built-in DVD player and remote, and basic cable as well as wireless WiFi. You'll also have a printer for your own use! No need to pack a hair dryer, iron or ironing board--I have them all ready for you!
In the kitchen you'll find good knives, cutting boards, Caphalon pots and pans, a 10-cup coffee maker and electric coffee grinder. I provide pantry basics like salt, pepper, oil, soy sauce. Make yourself a meal in the windowed kitchen...or "order in" and take it easy!
Want to shop some more? You're steps away from the Greenmarket at Union Square, Whole Foods, the wonderful small, medium, and large restaurants of Chelsea, and the foodie paradise of Chelsea Market. Splurge on one of Tom Collichio's or Danny Meyer's great restaurants, or find your own favorite hole-in-the-wall with great food and (for New York, anyway) low prices. Explore Mario Batali's food hall, "Eataly"!
There are also great stores⎯clothing, appliances, housewares and more in the neighborhood. Great walks, especially down to the Highline Park. And the clubs, bars, coffee bars, yoga studios and dance classes of Chelsea and Downtown are legendary!
You are located about a block away from uptown or downtown buses, and three blocks away from a major subway station. And our block is mellow and peaceful, with a quiet (no sirens!) police station across the street, and good neighbors all around.
Again, please note that there is no elevator and the apartment is most comfortable for one person or a couple. This is a very small New York City apartment in an old walk-up building.
